Patrick Bahati, an eight-year-old pupil whose life was tragically cut short, has been buried in an emotional ceremony.

Bahati was laid to rest at his parents’ rural home in Embu county, surrounded by family, friends, and schoolmates from Pebbles Academy in Thika.

How did Patrick Bahati die?

The young boy lost his breath while competing with peers during a cross-country event at his school last week.

Despite immediate efforts to save him, the little boy was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

A post-morterm examination conducted on September 4 showed no evidence of external traumatic injury.

The pathologist, therefore, declared the death uncertain, pending toxicology and histology.

Bahati mourned by relatives, colleagues

His sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him.

Bahati was remembered as a bright and energetic student with potential and dreams.

Teachers and classmates spoke fondly of his cheerful demeanour and love for sports.

The school community is mourning the loss of a promising young life, and support is being extended to his grieving family.

Emotional tributes and prayers marked Bahati's funeral service as attendees reflected on Bahati's short but impactful life.

His family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.

Bahati's parents claimed their son was reluctant to participate in the games but was forced to do so.

However, the school administration issued a statement dismissing the parents' claims.

Pebbles Academy issues statement regarding Bahati's death

The school says it had communicated to the parents that they would have a cross-country event, and Bahati was glad to participate.

He was exempted from running, so he walked but complained that he was exhausted when returning.

A school van came to pick him up, after which he slipped into unconsciousness and died at Avenue Hospital.

However, the deceased boy's family has refuted the statement, maintaining that it lacked empathy.
