Kiambu - Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned President William Ruto against entertaining his impeachment plans.

Speaking at a church service at Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church in Thika Town, on Sunday, September 22, Gachagua asked Ruto to keep his house in order amid divisions in UDA party.

How Gachagua warned Ruto over planned impeachment

Gachagua told Ruto to shun betrayal politics and keep his promise of ensuring his deputy is not humiliated, adding that if he cannot keep that promise, then he will not be trusted to keep any other.

“I would like to ask my boss, President William Ruto, to be cautious and do the right thing, and let’s keep our house together. Let us not be disruptive and let us not re-introduce the politics of betrayal,” Gachagua cautioned.

Gachagua said Ruto is the main beneficiary of the people of Mt Kenya's disdain for betrayal, so he should steer clear of betraying politics.

The second in command warned the president that there would be consequences if he pursued betrayal politics.

“Our people hate betrayal, and they are very unforgiving if you betray them. I ask my brother not to be tempted to go in that direction because these people will be unforgiving,” the deputy president firmly stated.

Are there plans to impeach Gachagua?

Meanwhile, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah dismissed claims of plans to impeach the deputy president.

Speaking in Siaya county on Saturday, September 21, Ichung'wah claimed the impeachment debate was Gachagua's own creation.

According to Ichung'wah, Kenya Kwanza Alliance lawmakers have never planned to oust the second in command.

The Kikuyu MP claimed Gachagua has been using the impeachment narrative to incite Mt Kenya residents against their MPs.
