The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has said four Kenyan footballers, Ronney Onyango, Ben Stanley, Shariff Majabe, and Musa Masika, used forged documents in their Visa applications.

Gor Mahia's Onyango was reportedly set to travel to Italy for trials, but that will have to wait longer as their passports have now been retained at the embassy.

The FKF statement said the four players used a forged federation letterhead and the FKF's CEO's signature in their application.

Onyango was not included in Gor Mahia's travelling party to South Sudan for this weekend’s CAF Champions League preliminary round against El Merreikh Bentiu.

Onyango to miss CAF encounter

The latest developments are a major blow to Onyango, who was progressing well. The versatile footballer can play in defence and midfield. He captained the Harambee Stars squad that played in COSAFA, per The Star.

The federation said they are having conversations with the Italian embassy, hoping to get the passports back to the players. They suspect a former player is behind the forgery.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that a former player, currently residing abroad, and an NSL club official and/or their agents are behind the forged FKF documentation and the Visa applications,”

FKF added that they've commenced investigations into the matter. According to Zachary Oguda, Onyango was expected to leave for Italy last month but it didn't go through because of forgery.

Kenyan captain goes missing

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that U20 Rising Starlets captain Jane Hato has been reported missing ahead of a vital match, prompting a public appeal from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

Hato, who recently signed with Kenya Police Bullets FC, was expected to join her team for their trip to Ethiopia for CAF Women's Champions League qualifiers but failed to show up at the meeting point.
