Tharaka Nithi - One person has been killed in a tragic road accident that occurred in the Kajiunduthi area along the Meru-Nairobi highway.

The Wednesday, August 28 crash involved two lorries and a personal car along the busy highway.

How did Tharaka Nithi crash happen

According to witnesses, the accident happened when one of the lorries and the personal car, both travelling in the same direction, collided with another lorry that was transporting milk and coming from the opposite direction.

A report by Citizen Digital indicated that the impact of the collision resulted in the immediate death of one individual at the scene.

Several others sustained injuries, with the drivers of both lorries suffering serious injuries and were quickly transported to Chogoria Mission Hospital for urgent medical attention.

The accident caused a significant traffic snarl along the highway as emergency services worked to clear the wreckage and assist the injured.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, urging motorists to exercise caution.

5 killed in road accident in Eldoret-Malaba highway

This incident follows a road accident on the Eldoret-Malaba highway that claimed the lives of five people just a day earlier.

The Sunday morning, August 25, accident involved an oil tanker, a tractor, and a Probox in the Murugusi area.

Lugari sub-county police commander Julius Meli confirmed that accident, saying two people survived the crash with serious injuries.

Meli said the oil tanker, which was travelling at high speed, hit a tractor carrying hardcore building materials before ramming into an incoming Probox vehicle.

The oil tanker dragged the Probox for more than fifteen metres, and following the impact, five passengers in the Probox died on the spot.

Two others suffered serious injuries after they managed to jump out of the vehicle and have been rushed to Eldoret Hospital.
