Indianapolis police are investigating the murder of a 30-year-old woman whose body was discovered near woods in a residential area of Indianapolis.

Chanti Dixon had ordered an Uber at 3.30am on Sunday, September 8, from her workplace, but her family did not hear from her again until the following day, prompting them to report her missing.

ABC News reported that Dixon was found with a gunshot wound to the left side of her head, and two of her cell phones were also recovered nearby, according to the affidavit.

"This is disgusting. It's disturbing. No one deserves to be treated this way in our community," Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Chief Chris Bailey stated while condemning the act.

He expressed relief that the suspect was apprehended quickly to prevent further violence.

Uber driver allegedly admits killing Dixon

The Uber driver, 29-year-old Francisco Valadez, was traced, arrested, and brought into custody.

WISH-TV added that after initially providing conflicting accounts, Valadez allegedly confessed to shooting Dixon in his car while attempting to engage in sexual activity with her, according to the affidavit.

An Uber spokesperson expressed sympathy for Dixon’s family.

"Our hearts break for Dixon's family and loved ones. The details of this act of violence are atrocious, and we will assist Indianapolis police however we can as they continue to investigate," read their statement in part.

Valadez has been banned from using Uber.
