George Natembeya Removes His Cleats, Hands Them To Barefoot Footballer

Governor George Natembeya has showcased his humane side during a football match in Trans Nzoia county.

Why did Natembeya walk barefoot?

The county boss was the chief guest at the tournament and went to greet the players.

However, Natembeya noticed one of the players was barefoot as she did not have cleats.

The politician was touched by her plight and decided to help him.

Natembeya then removed his white cleats and was left with socks.

He handed over the boots to the young player as the crowd cheered.

"Governor Natemeya was launching a football tournament. He realised a player didn't have shoes. He had to gift him his shoes," wrote Facebook user Oyaro Kaylln

How did cop celebrate Aldrine Kibet?

Still, on matters of football, Aldrine Kibet was in fine form as Junior Stars beat Somalia in the Cecafa U-18 competition at Bukhungu Stadium on Friday, December 1.

Somalia got an early lead through Abdihadif Abdi, but then Junior Stars produced an impressive comeback. Humphrey Aroko equalised eight minutes later before Stanley Omondi scored Kenya's second goal. Aroko netted his double in the 67th minute after an assist by Kibet.

Kibet finally got his goal in the 72nd minute after Somalia failed to clear their lines to give Kenya a comfortable 4-1 lead. The win ensured Kenya finished top of Group A with nine points and went into the Cecafa U-18 semi-finals unbeaten.

Footage of Kibet's wonder goal from outside the box surfaced online, showing the stadium going wild with celebrations, and he ran towards the corner to celebrate with his teammates. A smiling police officer watching the game was impressed by the build-up and play saluted Kibet.

"That cop should be treated for a vacation. It's good to appreciate patriotic Kenyans' efforts, " one Kenyan said.
