Kenyans Mourn Kisumu Man Who Died Weeks After Allegedly Being Beaten By Club Bouncers

The untimely death of Dave Oludhe, a man who sustained injuries after being allegedly assaulted by bouncers at a club in Kisumu, has left his friends and community in mourning.

Dave Oudhe breaths his last

Oludhe passed away on Thursday, August 3, leaving many questions surrounding the circumstances of his death.

The incident that led to Oludhe's injuries occurred in May 2023, when he and his friends were at Alleyways Club in Kisumu's Central Business District.

"Dr Dave Oludhe passed on last night. I hope it is not related to the complications he sustained from this," posted Ja Loka on his Twitter handle, @_fels1

A dispute arose over the payment of an unordered drink, resulting in a confrontation between Oludhe and the club management, as per a report by The Nairobian.

Witnesses say amidst the argument, the club's bouncers violently beat Oludhe, leaving him with serious injuries at Avenue Hospital in Kisumu.

In the wake of his death, friends and members of the House of Lords, a group of clubgoers, have come forward to condemn the alleged actions of the club's security personnel.

Friends pay tribute

They accused Alleyways Club of failing to address the issue of rogue bouncers harassing patrons, especially when they are intoxicated.

Beth Seth, a friend of Oludhe, expressed her grief, stating,

"Indeed the line between LIFE and DEATH is very thin... Our friend is no more Yawa.... So sudden it was and shocking to be precise..God.. Let me rush back to Kisumu."

Nick Omollo, another friend of Oludhe, struggled to come to terms with the loss, saying,

"Eti sasa Dr. DAVE OLUDHE ni marehemu... Painful tears are hard to see. Am yet to come to terms with this coz your body was still warm when I touched you this morning."

Steve Doms wrote:

"Some truth herein. So sad to lose Davy ja Raha .Dave and his brothers were the first people to facilitate Rose Muhando's performance in Homa Bay Town. A highly charged crowd and performance. You did well while you were at it. Jo SY will miss you."

Friends argue club should have handled situation better

Brilly Brender Bee pointed out the fickle nature of some friendships, stating,

"When Dave was beaten last time, most of you mocked him, most of you didn't support him but instead were laughing with emojis on people's posts that were mocking him... You want justice after he is dead. Ask yourself, which kind of friends do you have? Who is your friend in real life and after death... Rest in peace Daktari."

Earlier, the House of Lords group said it would pursue legal action against Alleyways Club and its bouncers.

It aimed to set a precedent against establishments that employ security personnel with a tendency to harass patrons.

The group contends that the club should have handled Oludhe's situation more considerately, given his state of intoxication and his status as a regular customer.

The management of Alleyways Club, however, has a different perspective, claiming that Oludhe fell while trying to resist the club's security personnel, who were escorting him out of the establishment.

Man allegedly beaten to death by nightclub bouncers

A Kilifi man has died after he was allegedly beaten to death by nightclub bouncers during the UEFA Champions League match.

The young man Feisal Bushuti was reportedly assaulted by the security men on the night of Saturday, May 28.

A report by NTV indicated that the bouncers denied him entry into the joint despite paying the required entry fee.

His uncle said the 30-year-old man was beaten to death when he tried to access the premises to watch the match.
