Every morning, Bianca Nerro prepares her family and then goes to a nearby bush to look for her friend, whom she calls names such as Mrembo or Faustine.

Mrembo risk of snake bites

Mrembo is a mentally challenged woman who looks like she is in her 30s and lives alone in a sprawling bush in the heart of Likoni.

"Sometimes she wakes up very well, and she can have a decent conversation, but other times she is incoherent," said Bianca.

"Only yesterday, June 27, I saw her in a t-shirt and an adult diaper with nothing else on. I fear for her as sometimes men abuse her. She lives in a bushy place and can be easily bitten by a snake; this place has a lot of snakes, and others even enter our houses. There are other marauding animals as well," Bianca said.

Amina Abdalla Rescue Centre

Bianca now prays that some well-wishers and rescue centres can pick up the lady and treat her condition.

She had proposed that Amina Abdalla Rescue Centre comes for the lady, but that was impossible at that time.

"The place is very full at the moment and we are overwhelmed. We can only take in more people in September," Amina Abdalla, the owner of the rescue centre, told TUKO.co.ke.

So for the time being, the lady will continue being under the mercies of well-wishers.

Woman rescues family with 2 mentally challenged kids

Elsewhere, Olive Gitonga helped a desolate woman, Rose Karimi, and her mentally challenged daughters by building a home for them.

The woman was chased away from her home with her mentally challenged kids and later found hope through Olive's efforts to build them a new home.

Despite challenges, Olive's determination shines as she leads a group in raising funds to complete a house for Rose Karimi and her daughters. She told TUKO.co.ke that she only needs KSh 50, 000 to complete it.
