New Delhi - A loving father is desperate to help his ailing daughter with a prolonged kidney condition.

Battling kidney illness since childhood

Walter Kanitta Njoroge heartbreakingly said his daughter, Fyona Wanjiku Kabitta's health is worsening.

The two travelled to India in 2022, seeking further medical help for the latter needing a kidney operation.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Njoroge said Wanjiku had been battling the illness since childhood, and the family has tried to stand with her.

Grade 1 pupil in ICU in India

"My daughter is one of the youngest kidney recipients who has unfortunately battled kidney disease since childhood. When she was in Grade 1, I was her first donor back in December 2011. She had a second transplant in February 2020. Sadly her mum was overwhelmed by our daughter's sufferings, and she died from a heart attack in February 2019.
Wanjiku is currently in a rare situation, delicately surviving without any kidney after severe complications in June 2022 here in India that culminated in double ICU emergencies and the removal of her hard-fought second kidney given in February 2020. Sadly, her last short call was more than a year ago in early June 2022 just before the emergency removal of the second kidney," the father shared.

Mombasa family seeks medical assistance

The struggling family from Mombasa has been moving from hospital to hospital in India, seeking further medical assistance.

They have been relying on well-wishers' help to fund their medical bills and finance their upkeep in the country.

"Wanjiku knows no home except the hospital as other complications have forced her to remain in a hospital bed. It has not been easy for me as a single dad and having to carry all these responsibilities on my shoulder," Njoroge stated.

Emergency operation for blocked kidneys

Earlier this month, a Meru father of conjoined twins said his daughter's kidneys were blocked and needed emergency surgery.

Francis Kinyua could not overemphasise the dire need to take his daughter Glory Kinya Kinyua to the hospital after her kidneys were blocked.

The stressed father said his child's catheter had been compromised; hence she could not pass urine as effectively as possible.

The dad from Meru sought at least KSh 7,000 to travel to Eldoret, where his daughter would undergo surgery.
