Nyako Blasts Kenyan Seeking To Ban Use Of TikTok, Insists Users Must Be Consulted

TikTok influencer Rose Atieno, better known as Nyako, has voiced her criticism against the petition to ban TikTok in Kenya due to concerns over adult content.

Why petitioner wants TikTok banned

The petition, submitted by Bridget Connect Consultancy CEO Bob Ndolo and received by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, alleges that the platform promotes offensive behaviour and violence.

Ndolo also accused the Chinese platform of collecting a significant amount of user data, including location and browser history, and sharing it with third-party companies without user consent.

Nyako roars at petitioner

Criticising the petition, the Germany-based TikToker blasted the petitioner and branded him selfish.

Speaking during TikTok live, she urged other TikTokers to keep calm.

Nyako advocated for a collaborative dialogue between the TikTok community and the government to establish peaceful regulations that address concerns.

"One selfish person can make a motion that he wants TikTok banned. Guys, don't panic. We have to sit at the table with the government and regulate how TikTok can work for us peacefully. They have to consult us at first," she said.
