What is Mwondi's legacy

Atwoli paid tribute to the fallen trade unionist, stating that his wisdom, compassion and efforts changed workers' lives, taking COTU to new heights.

The COTU boss stated that Mwondi was committed to advancing the labour movement by championing fair wages and safe working conditions.

"Our chairman General displayed unwavering commitment to the advancement of the labour movement, advocating tirelessly for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the overall well-being of our members. His leadership transcended the boundaries of time, leaving an indelible mark on COTU (K) history," Atwoli said.

He called for unity in the organisation and support for Mwondi's family, adding that his deeds would continue to inspire future generations.

Atwoli opens up about his future in COTU

In a separate report, Atwoli suggested the end of his tenure at the labour organisation may not come soon.

Explaining his prolonged stay at the organisation, Atwoli took pride in his 'good service', which he implied has endeared him to workers.

Upholding virtues such as honesty has also contributed to his long stint at COTU, Atwoli stated.

"Secret is that " Good service to man is service to God and he who serves God you cannot defeat him I will be there for sometimes because of honesty! God Bless," he said.

COTU itself also sided with Atwoli, saying that he has, with remarkable commitment, served Kenyans the length of his tenure notwithstanding.
