Sagana - Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has clapped back at critics complaining about tribalism in the Kenya Kwanza government.

Gacahgua said they planned their operations when they got into government and settled on individuals to help them deliver to Kenyans.

He said people from the Mount Kenya region are the majority in government because they are many in terms of population.

"I have seen people making noise that there are a lot of us. Yes, by choice, strategy and design. We sat down and planned. They are saying we have so many CSs and PSs because we are many by population," Gachagua said.

Transforming fortunes of the region

The second in command lauded President William Ruto for purposing to transform the region's economic fortunes by looking at the common mwananchi first.

He disclosed that President Ruto had earned the trust of residents from the region after making the decision to tour the region.

"We analysed the situation to see the best option for this region, and we were convinced by experience, reason and proven track record that William Ruto had a plan to transform the economic fortunes of our people, and that is why we made that decision," he said.

The principal assistant to the president claimed that they went against what the former leader Uhuru Kenyatta had advised.

Bishop Ole Sapit slams William Ruto over govt appointments

The Anglican Church of Kenya, led by Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit criticised President William Ruto's administration over recent state appointments.

During a press briefing, the Anglican Bishops slammed the Kenya Kwanza government and accused it of appointing people from specific communities to state jobs.

According to the church leaders, recent state appointments indicate Ruto was encouraging tribalism and cronyism.

“There is glaring tribalism and cronyism, particularly with regard to public appointments. There is an apparent lack of accountability and transparency in our institutions," Anglican Bishops said.

Anglican Bishops warned that it was wrong for the government to focus only on one or two tribes as those will divide the country more.
