Alfred Koech, who shared the photos, congratulated Mama Erodi for showcasing remarkable strength and determination by offering him an opportunity to succeed.

"Her unwavering commitment to your future is truly admirable. It is wonderful to see that you have risen to the challenge and made her proud," he wrote.

As her son stood tall in his military regalia, the mother’s face beamed with joy, erasing all the painful memories she endured.

Francis Erodi's story of resilience

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Erodi's best friend and neighbour Kelvine Lagat, waxed lyrical about the young soldier.

Lagat indicated that the young soldier came from a family of seven siblings and was a renowned sportsman at Mogonga Secondary School in Kisii.

"He deserves that job. His talent allowed him to complete high school without paying school fees, so his mother supported him in terms of transport back to school," he stated.

Lagat disclosed that Erodi joined the Kenya Army Volleyball team after high school and was declared the Champion of the 2019 national ball games in Kisumu.

Through his work ethic, he got a slot in military school, culminating in his recent graduation as a full soldier.

The story highlights the countless unsung heroes who, like Erodi's mother, toil in the background to nurture the nation’s defenders.

Father, son cry during KDF pass out ceremony

A viral photo captured a cadet and his father emotionally shedding tears in another heartwarming moment from the same event.

The duo broke down and wept, seemingly unable to believe the moment had come to pass.

Social media users opined that only the two understand the struggle they've endured to make the military dream a reality.
