The president of Kenya, William Ruto, is among the dignitaries who attended the Chief of Defence Forces military honour ceremony held at the Ulinzi Sports stadium.

Ogolla died in a plane crash on April 18, alongside nine others after their helicopter crashed in Elgeyo Marakwet.

During the military honour ceremony, the president, who was deeply moved and emotional, could be seen covering his eyes and face in different instances.

One photo captured the president covering his face as he looked down while others were looking at what was happening at the main podium.

In a separate photo, Ruto held his nose as he closed his eyes, while in another, he closed his eyes as he looked down.

Many Kenyans have been moved by his reactions, with some wondering about the big blow the death of Ogolla had dealt him.

Ruto discloses Ogolla apologised over Azimio meeting

During the military honour ceremony, the president, while making his speech, revisited his bone of contention with the late general.

The president revealed that the deceased army man confessed to him of having been part of the said plot.

Ruto said that in the recommendations for the new CDF succeeding General Robert Kibochi, Ogolla did not feature.

What you need to know about Ogolla's burial

  • Ogolla will be buried in his Siaya home on Sunday, April 21, according to his request, as stated in his will.
  • The late CDF will also not be buried in a coffin, and his family maintained that the Luo traditions will still be observed.
  • Ogolla's family also announced that his dad's 100th birthday celebrations will still go on as planned.
