How Ruto struggled in his early life

According to the BBC, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leader walked barefoot to school and wore his first pair of shoes at age 15.

Ruto spent his youthful days selling chicken to supplement his parents' income as he came from a humble background.

After completing his primary education, he enrolled at Wareng Secondary School for ordinary levels. He then joined the prestigious Kapsabet Boys High School for his advanced levels.

In 1990, he graduated from the University of Nairobi (UoN) and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in botany and zoology.

He joined politics in 1992, and the rest, they say, is history.

Which ranch does Ruto own in Narok?

Ruto bought the 900-acre Intona ranch in Trans-Mara, Narok county, although its ownership was contested.

According to Daily Nation, the tract belonged to former vice president Joseph Murumbi and was acquired by the president through North Mogor Holdings.

The late Murumbi owed the Agriculture Finance Corporation a KSh 8.9 million loan, which Ruto settled.

Ruto turned the ranch, once in poor condition, into an extravagant structure now praised by many as a tourist attraction.

He has also hired several people to oversee the property and stocked it with hundreds of beef cattle.

The ranch features a 35-room palatial mansion that borders the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

According to reports, the late Murumbi obtained the land via his mother's Maasai land rights. Murumbi's parents had sent him to study in India at the time.

After 16 years in India, Murumbi returned to Kenya to carry on the family business after he received false reports that his mother had died.

Murumbi wanted to live outside Nairobi, so they sold the family's house in Muthaiga and relocated to Trans-Mara.

He then constructed the 35-room mansion as a private retreat for himself and his family.

Ruto displays cattle at his Narok farm

A week ago, Ruto and First Lady Mama Rachel spent time at the farm.

Blogger Dennis Itumbi shared images online showing the two at their Trans Mara farm monitoring their livestock.

They were also observed checking on their wheat and Boma Rhodes crops at their farm.

The duo planted trees at the farm, as the head of state does not shy away from displaying his love for agriculture.

Ruto's Koilel farm

A year ago, the president got Kenyans talking after flaunting his large Koilel farm in Uasin Gishi cunty with succulent, towering stalks nourished by subsidised fertiliser.

Ruto, who ditched his official suits, showed up at his farm with a godfather hat, a polo shirt, and cream trousers.

The politician has been emphasising the need to increase agricultural production as the remedy for lowering food prices.

How much does William Ruto earn from chicken?

Ruto previously disclosed that his farm earns him over KSh 1.5 million daily from selling eggs.

He showed a glimpse of a modern building housing thousands of birds.

Aside from the eggs, Ruto’s Sugoi farm also sells improved chicken as it has an industrial-grade incubator that can hatch thousands of chicks.
