Mathioya residents washed the mud off their Member of Parliament Edwin Mugo on Wednesday, May 1, during his visit to the victims of the landslide in the area.

Mugo's feet were washed after his round-check assessment and evaluation of the areas that were likely to be hit by floods and landslides.

Netizens sarcastically reacted to the residents act of reciprocating the kind visit of the MP to the victims as a tough day.

"Wanjiku decided to wash our MP feet after the support she received. It was a tough day. Somber mood," a netizen said.

How many people have died in the mudslide?

On Monday, April 29, four people were reported dead according to the Kenya Red Cross, as they went in search of the two people missing and animals buried alive in the tragedy.

The incident was triggered by heavy rains currently in the region affected Kiganjo village in Gitugi ward.

Mugo donations to victims of landslide

Mugo was in the company of Murang'a senator Joe Nyutu, and other Mps from the county including the county's Women Representative Betty Maina, where they donated food, mattresses, and other essential items including blankets.

He said the victims are currently being sheltered at Ngutu Primary School. Mugo also said that two more people died in the Monday incident.

"My commitment to serving my people has always been a driving force for my people's well-being. I revisited my constituents affected by the recent landslide, who are currently sheltered at Ngutu Primary School. Yesterday's tragic event claimed the lives of 6 of my constituents," he said.

Nakuru MP bashed after paying student's fees

In February Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama was bashed after he asked a student to raise a placard after he paid his school fees.

Kenyans called the MP for using the student who looked uncomfortable for furthering his political interests.

Arama further triggered the wrath of Kenyans when he went ahead on his social media to post his development projects bragging of his achievement in a short period since taking office.
