Manchester - A maths teacher has been found guilty of engaging in an illicit affair with two students in her class.

Rebecca Joynes was suspended over a relationship with one of the learners when she began another affair with the second student.

A report by the Independent indicated that the 30-year-old teacher lied to the students that she couldn't get pregnant until she surprised one of them with a note saying "Best Dad."

The court heard that students sent Joynes suggestive messages on social media before she invited them to her house for sexual encounters.

In the case of the first student, Joynes gave him all but one of the digits of her phone number, and as a problem-solving exercise, he had to work out the final digit.

They connected on Snapchat, and he sent her flirty texts, with the pair agreeing to meet secretly.

She later took him shopping, bought him an expensive Gucci belt, and went back to her flat in Salford Quays.

Why did Joynes get into relationship with second student

Joynes said she had a breakdown after she was suspended from her job following the police investigation into her relationship with the first student.

It was during this time that the second student messaged her, asking how she was doing after her suspension.

"I genuinely thought he cared," Joynes told the court.

On his birthday, the second student lied to his parents that he was going to watch a Manchester United match but went to Joynes’s apartment.

After some time, their relationship also soured, and in a bid to save the relationship, she invited the boy to tell him she was heavy with child.

The defendant was found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a student at Manchester Crown Court, including two while being a person in a position of trust.
