The late Michael Oyier's death after falling ill and being taken to Nairobi Hospital shook many people.

Politicians, journalists attend Oyier's service

As soon as his death was announced, tributes started pouring in, and people from all walks of life shared how much they loved and admired him.

The journalist's requiem mass held at All Saints Cathedral was a star-studded event with celebrities from the political class, journalism field and other spheres of service in attendance.

Veteran journalist Phillip Etale attended the mass, and he painted Oyier as a gentleman par excellence.

2. Politician Mukhisa Kituyi

Former United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) secretary-general Mukhisa Kituyi helped carry the casket in church.

3. Edwin Sifuna

Nairobi county senator Edwin Sifuna joined mourners at the All Saints Cathedral to mourn the departed news anchor.

4. Sitati Kituyi

Sitati Kituyi, who is related to the affected family and is also the son of Mukhisa attended the solemn event as well.

5. Rosemary Odinga

Rosemary Odinga, the eldest daughter of former prime minister Raila Odinga, joined other mourners at the church.

6. Raila Odinga's other children

Raila Junior and his wife, Yvonne Wambui, and East Africa Legislative Assembly's Winnie Odinga attended the funeral service.

7. Betty Murungi

Siaya governor James Orengo's wife, Betty Murungi, also joined the Oyier family in mourning their brother, father and husband.

Ex-KTN journalist to be buried in Homa Bay

Another story revealed that Oyier's fundraiser was held at All Saints Cathedral on April 30, and he will be laid to rest on May 3 in Homa Bay.

Mike Oyier died on April 20, while undergoing treatment at The Nairobi Hospital.

His family pleaded for financial support to help give the journalist a decent send-off to the great beyond.
