MP Caleb Amisi Holds Talks With Iranian Ambassador Days After Meeting Meg Whitman

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi held a consultative meeting with the Iranian ambassador to Kenya, Ali Gholampour, on Monday, June 3.

Amisi shared details of his meeting with the Iranian ambassador on his official X account.

He said the meeting was geared towards enhancing Kenya's relationship with Iran.

"Our discussions centered on advancing bilateral relations in alignment with Kenya's five foreign policy pillars: peace, economic cooperation, diaspora engagement, environmental sustainability, and cultural exchange," Amisi posted on X.

Why foster international relations

The Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) legislator also revealed that the Parliamentary Defense Committee sympathised with the Iranian ambassador following the passing of President Ebrahim Raisi in a chopper crash.

According to Amisi, the meeting with foreigners attached to the country is geared towards promoting Kenya's culture and global peace.

" Our commitment remains steadfast in promoting global peace and fostering robust interstate relations, transcending cultural and religious boundaries," said the ODM lawmaker.

Amisi leads young MPs in meeting US Ambassador Meg Whitman

This comes exactly one month after Amisi led his fellow young lawmakers in a meeting with the US ambassador to Kenya.

On Monday, May 6, Amisi disclosed that the leaders met US Ambassador Meg Whitman at her Nairobi residence.

Amisi said their discussions highlighted the youth as a demographic dividend in Kenya and emphasized their potential beyond being labeled a disaster.

The talks also geared towards incorporating technological advancement for youths in business, as Whitman expressed her displeasure with the increasing corruption among government officials.

Before meeting Whitman, the Azimio MP had warned the ambassador to drop the discussion on the 2022 general elections.

Amisi had told Whitman that Raila Odinga was a ceremonial president, and interfering with him would jeopardise her diplomatic score by losing Raila on her side.
