Omwenga had gone to reach out to the ball after it was trapped when he was unfortunately electrocuted.

"I heard my son's name being called. I headed to the balcony to see who was calling my son's name. One neighbour told me a live wire had electrocuted my son. As a mother, I rushed to the scene and found my son lying on the grill," Nancy Kerubo, Omwenga's heartbroken mother, told KTN News.

Which county was Dylan Omwenga buried in?

Geoffrey Mokaya, Omwenga's uncle, narrated the death of his nephew, who was playing football with his neighbours.

"They were playing soccer when the ball fell to the ground. Omwenga headed to the floor, where the ball was trapped between the wires. When he touched the grill, he was electrocuted," the mourning uncle said.

The Grade 2 pupil's body was pulled from the scene using a piece of wood which was still on the scene.

Omwenga, who was buried in his village home in Nyamira county, was pronounced dead at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital after being rushed to the medical facility seeking to help him.

Grade 6 pupil electrocuted in Turkana

In a similar story, earlier this month, another pupil was electrocuted to death after he touched exposed wires.

The young learner from Canan Primary School was on his way home when he came in contact with the wires.

Residents in Turkana county accused Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) of laxity in securing power installations that pose a danger to the public.
