However, she had to refuse some things from being done to her baby, like chopping off his hair, despite her in-laws saying they wanted to shave him days after he was born.

"Tying the baby at the back, my baby was literally a couple of days old, and they wanted to tie the baby at the back. I wasn't having it. I was like this umbilical cord is still fresh, my baby was just from the hospital, let's wait a little longer. For us back home, we wait until the baby is like three months, that's when we start tying them at the back. For them, it was almost immediately. The day I came back from the hospital and the baby was supposed to be given bath, and this bath was so intense, it was scrubbing, and I was crying throughout the process because I was like, how are they not feeling like they are hurting my baby," she said.

Shon also added that she was puzzled that her in-laws insisted on placing the lantern light on her baby's tummy to help heal the umbilical cord faster.
