Famous Bongo actress Aunty Ezekiel faces backlash on social media after gifting her 9-year-old daughter Cookie a car.

Bemused netizens called Ezekiel out for the Toyota car gift to Cookie, saying it was a lovely birthday gesture but unnecessary at the girl's age.

They shared their views after Aunty Ezekiel posted a video gifting the car to Cookie, but most social media users said it was a misplaced priority.

In the video, Aunty Ezekiel blindfolded Cookie and led her through a red carpet to a lush field where the red Toyota was hidden in a white box.

When unveiled, Cookie is lost for words. She is seen excitedly thanking her mother before seemingly driving it out. The car has a customised number plate.

However, some of Aunty Ezekiel's supporters rushed to her defence, saying she had all the right to splash money on Cookie as she wished to.

Early this month, a mother in the US made headlines after gifting her daughter a car upon graduating from high school.

The mother surprised her daughter with a black Honda Civic, saying she deserved the car after working hard in school.

The girl, who turned 18 two months earlier, plans to join an Esthetician School in August this year.
