Court Orders Police To Return KSh 4m Jewellery, KSh 1.5m Watches Seized From Jimi Wanjigi's Home

• Businessman Jimi Wanjigi moved to court for redress after a dramatic raid into his home by the police last month
• The court barred the state law enforces from accessing Wanjigi's Muthaiga home, further ordering them to return jewellery and other valuables worth millions
• Wanjigi's home was raided by the officers who were running after the tycoon-turned-politician who had been linked with the last round of anti-government protests

Nairobi—The High Court has issued an order barring the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengelifrom entering businessman Jimi Wanjigi's residence.

Wanjigi's home will be out of bounds for the officers until his case is heard and determined.

Further, the court ordered the state law enforcers to return the businessman's valuables worth millions of shillings.

List of items Jimi Wanjigi lost after police raid

Wanjigi listed expensive rings, necklaces, watches, high-end phones, mobile communication gadgets and cash as the items that police allegedly confiscated during their raid into his home last month.

The jewellery set included earrings, which were cumulatively valued at $40,319 (equivalent to KSh 5.2 million), and diamond and golden rings at $6,912 (KSh 891,000).

The high-end phones included an iPhone 15 ProMax, an iPhone 14, two Samsung Flip 5 devices and a house communication gadget.

Others were an Apple laptop, three Apple i-Pads, a Samsung tablet and a DVR (HIKVISION Network Video Recorder).

They also allegedly made away with cash totalling $570 (KSh 73,000).

To raise the alarm on the carting away of Wanjigi’s valuables was his lawyer, Willis Otieno.

The lawyer stated that the police raid was a political witch-hunt against Wanjigi for his political stand against the government.

Otieno alleged the officers further conducted an illegal search, breaking into his car and carting away important files.

How police roughed up Wanjigi's family

Wanjigi's eldest child, Maina, said the officers showed up at their home and forced their way in by breaking the door.

They reportedly dragged everyone from their beds as they embarked on their search.

Maina claimed about five officers beat him up before extending the brute force to his sister and mother.

Wanjigi's daughter, Wamboi, said the police humiliated them, but the experience strengthened their will to stand behind their embattled father.
