How did Wanjigi’s kids support him?

The billionaire went to record a statement over his alleged funding of the anti-government protests but was arrested.

Wanjigi’s legal team accompanied him as he was ushered into the DCI office premises, and his family arrived shortly afterwards.

An image captured inside the police station showed Wanjigi holding up his handcuffed hands to the cameras.

His son Maina stood beside him while his daughter Wambui was in the background.

As he was being ushered into the police cells, someone in the background was heard saying:

"Please don't be rough to our client. You are assaulting him by touching him.”

Wanjigi first introduced his kids to the public during his father’s funeral in July.

"My dear wife Irene, I am so sure many of you have seen her, and we are blessed with two lovely children, Wambui and Maina, both still in school,” he said.

What happened when police broke into Wanjigi’s home?

The businessman’s wife and children have been his anchor amid his run-ins with President William Ruto’s government.

On Thursday evening, August 9, police raided Wanjigi's Muthaiga home and broke the door.

They allegedly dragged everyone from their beds as they embarked on their search. Maina claimed that about five officers beat him up before extending the brute force to his sister and mother.

They were forced to lie on the floor, and they were allegedly attacked despite submitting to the police orders.

Wambui said the police humiliated them, but the experience strengthened their will to stand behind their embattled father.

She further noted that she had never felt prouder being Wanjigi’s daughter.
