The Wiper party leader said it is high time for Kenyans to remain united and avoid falling prey to schemers who plan to divide the country by impeaching Gachagua.

Kalonzo said the opposition coalition will be ready to defend Gachagua if his critics make good on their threats to table an impeachment motion.

“We have a nation to model together. I never liked pretence, there is tension in this country. Political tension. When the moment comes, we will always be there for the people of Nyeri. The country is bigger than all of us. Respect is vital in this country,” Kalonzo said on Thursday, September 26.

What Eugene Wamalwa said about Gachagua's impeachment

Democratic Action Party of Kenya leader Eugene Wamalwa also assured support for Gachagua, stating they will not let the embattled deputy president walk alone.

According to Wamalwa, President William Ruto was determined to cause division within the Mt Kenya region.

“Those planning to burn the mountain, I want to tell them that this mountain has friends. If you seek Kalonzo here, he is the friend of the mountain just like me.
"I told Gachagua that there is a plan to split the Mt Kenya region. If the day comes and the mountain calls upon us, we will stand with you. You will not walk alone," Wamalwa said.

What are charges against Gachagua in impeachment motion?

Meanwhile, a motion to impeach the deputy president has been prepared and is ready to be presented in Parliament.

Although the motion is ready, it has been disclosed that no Member of Parliament has stepped forward yet to move the motion.

A report by NTV states that the charges in the motion against the deputy president include constitutional violations, related legal breaches, gross misconduct, and abuse of office.
