The family of Kawango Agot, a distinguished Kenyan scholar and researcher, has announced her sudden passing.

Agot tragically collapsed and died on the evening of Saturday, August 17.

What's Kawango Agot's legacy?

Agot was the founder, director, and CEO of Impact Research and Development Organization, bringing over 20 years of experience in biomedical, epidemiological, and behavioural research.

Her work significantly influenced the trajectory of HIV prevention in Kenya and beyond.

She earned her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nairobi and an MPhil from Moi University.

Agot later pursued concurrent PhD and MPH graduate studies at the University of Washington, Seattle.

Throughout her illustrious career, Agot collaborated with local and international partners to implement nearly 60 research studies and programs across more than 20 of Kenya's 47 counties.

The outcomes of her work contributed to the development and revision of HIV prevention policies in the country.

Man collapses and dies hours before wedding

In a separate article, a man identified as Mercy Alalibo died before an elaborate wedding planned for him and his fiancee, Ella Komabo.

Alalibo and his fiancee had invited family and friends to their wedding, which was supposed to be held on July 20, but sadly, on July 19, the young man collapsed and died even though he was not sick.

On July 20, a friend took to his Facebook page to regret that it was the day of the highly anticipated wedding, yet Alalibo was gone.
