Kericho - Three people have been confirmed dead following a grisly accident along the Kericho-Mau Summit Road.

NTV reported that the Saturday, September 7, accident occurred in the Kapmakaa area at around 3.45pm.

How the Kericho accident occurred

Kericho County Traffic Enforcement Officer Selina Chirchir said the accident occurred after a Toyota Hiace matatu travelling from Londiani to Kericho collided with an oil tanker.

“The driver of the oil tanker lost control of the vehicle and hit the matatu head on causing it to roll,” Chirchir said.

According to the police boss, the oil tanker also hit three other cars that were behind the PSV matatu.

Chirchir said three people, including a woman and two men, died on the spot, while several other passengers were injured and taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital for treatment.

However, Chirchir said none of the drivers in the vehicles was injured in the accident.

Preliminary investigation shows heavy rains in the region may have contributed to poor visibility for drivers.

What caused Londiani accident that killed 3 people

In other sad news, three people lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Fort Ternan along the Londiani-Muhoroni Highway.

The Friday, September 6, early morning fatal crash involved a Mercedes Benz trailer and a Nissan Double Cabin.

According to a preliminary police report, the accident occurred at around 6am when the two vehicles, which were travelling in opposite directions, collided head-on.

A report by Citizen Digital revealed the trailer was ferrying LPG gas, while the Nissan Double Cabin carried three occupants, a woman and two men.

The three occupants of the Nissan Double Cabin died on the spot following the impact of the collision.

The driver of the trailer survived the crash and was rushed to Fortenan Sub-County Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
