Kericho: Man Surrenders To Police After Strangling Wife In Family Dispute

Kericho - Shock and grief engulfed Eland Estate in Kericho town after a 32-year-old man murdered his 30-year-old wife over family disputes.

According to the police report seen by TUKO.co.ke, the man, identified as Cyrus Onkeo, strangled his wife, Fridah Nyaboke, after a fight on Saturday night, September 21.

It was reported that after strangling his wife, Onkeo pushed her onto the bed.

The following morning, the deceased took longer than usual to wake up, but Onkeo assumed she was still upset over their previous night’s altercation.

Later, Onkeo realized his wife had passed away after attempting to wake her up.

Upon discovering her death, Onkeo went to the Kericho Police Station and informed the officers of the incident.

Police immediately responded, rushed to the scene, and found the deceased lying on the bed with no visible injuries, although blood was oozing from her mouth.

The body was removed and taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation, pending a postmortem, while Onkeo was placed in custody awaiting arraignment in court.

What Siaya police boss said about assistant chief's murder

Meanwhile, police in Rarieda sub-county launched an investigation into the brutal murder of Moses Oduor Mbeda, the assistant chief of the Memba sub-location.

Mbeda was killed by unknown assailants early morning on Saturday, September 21, at his home.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Serah Koki, the tragic incident occurred at approximately 1am when Mbeda stepped out of his house to use the pit latrine within his compound.

It was during this time that the attackers ambushed him, inflicting serious injuries, particularly hacking him severely on the neck.

Mbeda was rushed to Lwak Mission Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead upon arrival due to the extensive injuries he had sustained.
