Mary Moraa has won the women's 800m at the Lausanne Diamond League, clocking 1:57.91.

Great Britain's Georgia Bell and Jemma Reekie finished second and third, respectively.

Moraa was competing in her first 800m race since winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Moraa was looking to bounce back after falling short at the Paris Olympic Games, weeks ago.

The 24-year-old was comfortable throughout the race after fending off American Nia Akins, who was looking to challenge her.

Moraa was in complete control in the last 100m as she stormed to her second win in the Diamond League this season.

She now has 23 points from three Diamond League races and is third in the rankings. The world champion is expected to compete in the final, which is set for September in Brussels, per World Athletics.

She won the final in 2022, and with some of the top stars out for the season, she could clinch another Diamond Trophy.

Moraa takes bronze in Paris

In other news, TUKO.co.ke had reported that Moraa secured a bronze medal in the women's 800m in Paris.

Moraa faded in the final stretch as Great Britain's Keely Hodgkinson and Tsige Duguma of Ethiopia clinched gold and silver, respectively.

The Kenyan star clocked 1:57.42 and will have to wait until 2028 to go for Kenya's first gold medal in the distance since 2008.

Moraa cheers on Beatrice Chebet
