"I got a report that a widow, Rose Aloma, had been attacked together with her 12-year-old son. The widow had both her arms amputated, a deep cut on her chin and leg while her son had his one eye gouged out, and a deep panga cut on his right leg," Owino narrated.

The victims were rushed to Migori Referral Hospital for treatment, where Rose is currently recuperating.

On the other hand, her son, in critical condition, was later transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for specialised care.

Why did Odoyo attack Rose Aloma?

According to reports, the tragic attack was motivated by a love triangle.

The suspect, Odoyo, had inherited Rose Aloma 10 years ago as per Luo customs but left her three years ago.

Rose is alleged to have found another inheritor, an act believed to have infuriated Odoyo, prompting him to carry out the vicious attack.

Owino revealed that a manhunt for the suspect ended tragically when they found he had harmed himself in his employer's compound.

Rose has made a public appeal for financial assistance to help cover her medical bills and those of her critical son.

"My life is at a standstill right now, and I am calling on well-wishers who can help out with my bills and my son's bills," Aloma said.

The body of the suspect was moved to Rapcom Mortuary in Awendo as the community comes to terms with the shocking incident.

Owino urged residents to avoid taking matters into their own hands when faced with disagreements.
