Witnesses said the man and the deceased woman had been living together for three years but with frequent disagreements.

Moses Macharia, a Nyumba Kumi elder, said the suspect's immediate neighbours informed him of the tragic event.

According to Macharia, it was not the first time the couple was engaged in a physical fight, adding that he had separated them on some occasions in the past.

"I know these people because I had come here before when they had fought. That time, it was so bad because they had even brandished knives against each other," Macharia said.

What eyewitnesses said about the fatal incident

Macharia added that in most cases, the duo used to drink alcohol together before retreating to their house to fight.

"They were both drunk; they would often be drinking and then come to fight at the house," Macharia added.

Neighbours said the reasons behind the tragic event remain unknown, adding that the deceased destroyed the suspect's household items before setting them on fire.

Why Dickson Korir killed his wife in Subukia

In another sad incident, Eunice Chepkaitany Koima was allegedly murdered by her husband, Dickson Korir.

Daily Nation reported that Korir murdered his wife after she threatened to elope with her secret lover, identified as John.

According to court documents, on the night of August 8, Eunice, allegedly, while under the influence of alcohol, mistakenly revealed to her husband her secret plan to elope with her lover.

It was not the first time that Eunice had left her matrimonial home in Chelilit village, Subukia, Nakuru County, to move to John’s home in the neighbouring Baringo county.
