Nithi Bridge Accident: Woman Narrates Escaping Death After Asking Mum To Travel In Ill-Fated Van

• The young woman and her family were devastated to learn that their dear mother was no more and Kenyans sympathised with her

Purity Kiogoria has shared that she would have been in the ill-fated van that killed 12 people on the Nithi Bridge had she stuck to her earlier plans.

Purity was among the 20 people who had travelled to Nkubu, in Meru county, to seek parental blessings in a colourful ceremony that saw them enjoy and dance for their parents

"I asked mum to board the ill-fated van and go open my business for me as I had errands to run here (Meru)," said Purity.

Sadly, that was the last time she talked with her dear mother, who was among the 12 killed.

"After my function, we were supposed to visit Kangundo, but sadly, the person who was to follow me has left us," said Damaris Kathira, who had hosted them in Meru.

Man gives closer view of dreaded black spot

In another story, a Kenyan man identified as Kingsley-Kenya shared that several signs warn drivers as they approach the infamous Nithi Bridge.

A recent grisly accident saw 12 people lose their lives on the bridge as a van full of women from a chama meeting crashed.

Kingsley-Kenya asked young people driving to the county for the first time to be careful and observe the signs as they drive to the black spot.
