The Virginia Lottery reported this incredible find in a news release on August 29.

Still coming to terms with his unexpected windfall, Herbert expressed his disbelief and excitement. He shared his reaction with lottery officials, stating,

“I scratched my head. I had to make sure. It’s going to take time to sink in.”

Herbert's luck materialized after a visit to a Chubby’s store in the Richmond area, where he purchased a $3 ticket for the Powerball game's June 14 drawing.

Herbert secures significant win

While the jackpot for that night was a staggering $342 million (49.7 billion), Herbert's ticket may not have hit the jackpot, but it indeed secured a significant win.

Matching four numbers along with the Powerball turned out to be the key to his $100,000 (KSh 14.5 million) success.

The amount Herbert received after taxes wasn't disclosed in the Virginia Lottery's news release.

Interestingly, this isn't the first instance of someone discovering a valuable forgotten lottery ticket in their vehicle.

In a similar stroke of luck, a man in South Carolina found a neglected ticket that ultimately made him richer, as reported.

For Douglas Herbert, this unexpected windfall has undoubtedly brought a touch of magic to his life.

Man wins jackpot after asking kids for help

In a similar story, a North Carolina man has struck gold in the form of a whopping $1 million (KSh 145.4 million) lottery jackpot with an unusual strategy.

David Morris, a father of six, won the life-changing jackpot after he sought help from his children in choosing the winning numbers.

According to The Sun, Morris clinched the Mega Millions prize in the August 1 drawing, making him the lucky recipient of one of history's fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpots.

Despite not being a regular lottery player, Morris was drawn to the game after witnessing the jackpot grow to over $1 billion (KSh 145.4 billion).
