A Siaya widow has praised Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo after building her a house.

Why PS Raymond Omollo built widow a house

Ann Adhiambo Okwako of Alego Usonga Constituency, who is living with disability, is the latest widow to benefit from PS Omollo's Widows Empowerment Programme.

Adhiambo's story touched the Widows Empowerment team during last month's visit to Siaya.

According to Victor Ayugi, the programmes coordinator, the 67-year-old widow had lost two houses to fire, and her fellow widows of the Kalkada Moyie widows group helped her construct a tiny house.

Adhiambo was living in a one-room house, which was in bad condition, until she met the Widows Empowerment team, who changed her life.

Siaya widow praises PS Omollo

On Saturday, April 27, PS Omollo's Widows Empowerment Programme led by Ayugi gifted Adhiambo a new house and she could not hide her joy.

"Her story touched us, especially after revealing her house burnt down twice, and the PS asked the team to construct a new house within a month. After we handed her the house, she shed tears of God, praising the PS for giving her a decent shelter," Ayugi told TU.KO.co.ke.

The PS is passionate about helping the needy, and he has been helping widows, orphans and the elderly.

"We are planning to extend our hand of compassion to needy people in different parts of the country," Ayugi said.

List of women PS Raymond Omollo has helped

In February, through his Widows Empowerment Programme, PS Omollo gifted Hellen Achieng from Uriri, Migori county a house, leaving her shedding tears of joy.

In January, the Omollo built a 33-year-old Kisumu widow a house. Caroline Akinyi, a mother of six, who was living in a tiny mud house, highlighted her plight during one of the widows' meetings with Omollo's team.

He constructed a house for a 67-year-old widow, Margaret Awuor, who was living in a grass-thatched house and could not hide her joy after being gifted a new house.

Apart from Awuor, Omollo also built houses for other women, Dorcas Achieng Osewe, a 73-year-old grandmother, and Rose Achieng Odhiambo from Homabay county. The granny was living in a small mud house with rusted iron sheets but was gifted a new home after her plight was highlighted.

Rose Achieng, a 52-year-old widow living with disability, met the PS in 2023 during his homecoming party and shared her touching story, begging him to build her a house as the one she was living in was in a deplorable state. Weeks after the meeting, she was handed a new house.
