Public debate on the Finance Bill 2024

In compliance with Article 118 (1) (b) of the Constitution and Standing Order 127(3), the Finance and National Planning Committee of the National Assembly has called on Kenyans to share their views on the Finance Bill 2024.

The Bill proposes amendments to several critical pieces of legislation, including the Income Tax Act, the Value Added Tax Act, and the Excise Duty Act. If successful, these amendments will have a significant impact on Kenyans' economic and financial well-being.

Additionally, the Bill will affect other tax-related laws, such as the Affordable Housing Act, the Industrial Training Act, and the Data Protection Act.

How Kenyans can submit views on the Bill

The ongoing public debate on the Finance Bill 2024 will only be useful if views are submitted to Parliament for consideration.

Kenyans who wish to express their opinions on the Bill can draft a memorandum, clearly stating their name, contact details, and any affiliations of the individual or organisation submitting it.

The memorandum can be hand-delivered to the Office of the Clerk on the first floor of the Main Parliament Buildings in Nairobi or emailed to cna@parliament.go.ke.

The deadline for submission of public views is Tuesday, May 28, at 5pm.
