The Uasin Gishu community is reeling from the devastating news of the passing of Teacher Thomas Kipkorir Meres from Chelabal village, Segero Barsombe ward, Soy constituency.

What killed the teacher?

The beloved educator, who taught at Makongi High School, lost his life after a brief battle with acute Hepatitis B.

The teacher's death, which was shared with TUKO.co.ke by Kiprotich Kigen, has left behind a trail of shock and sorrow among his family, friends, and colleagues.

"Honorable Teacher Thomas Kipkorir Meres, from Chelabal village in Segero Barsombe ward, Soy constituency, passed away after a brief battle with acute Hepatitis B," he wrote.

Just three weeks ago, in a colourful pre-wedding ceremony, Thomas had joyously celebrated his union with Abigael from the Kapchemugu family in Bucheenge, Nandi Hills ward.

Following this, he exchanged vows with his beloved in a beautiful wedding ceremony in his hometown of Barsombe in Ziwa.

What is Hepatitis B?

Little did he know that his life would be cut short so soon after these moments of happiness.

Hepatitis B is a severe viral infection that attacks the liver, and while treatments exist, acute cases can progress rapidly and lead to severe complications.

Despite medical intervention, Thomas could not overcome the aggressive nature of the disease, leaving his loved ones heartbroken and in mourning.

The news of his passing has sent shockwaves throughout the community, with tributes pouring in for the dedicated teacher known for his passion for education.

Thomas Kipkorir Meres will be remembered for his contributions to education and the love and kindness he shared with those around him.

Teacher dies after heart attack

In a separate story, a young teacher's quest for romantic love ended in tragedy following his rejection by the lady he was interested in.

Denis Mukono, a rising teacher from Meru, reportedly took his life following rejection by a lady identified in his letter.

Mukono revealed that he had endured a lot before resorting to harm himself, adding that all his efforts were in vain.

"Just decided to rest in peace. I have tried all means, but all has been in vain," he wrote.

Before the tragic passing, Mukono had updated his social media pages, inviting people to 'his function'.
