Tanzania - A man is mourning his spouse, who passed away shortly after welcoming a bundle of joy.

Seleman Shomary said delayed health services led to the death of his wife despite efforts to help her.

How much did Shomary pay for ambulance?

Shomary said he was forced to pay for health services that the hospital was supposed to offer for free.

His wife was in critical condition and needed to be transferred to another hospital for better services.

"We had to pay for the ambulance, which I later found out was supposed to be free. There were several back-and-forths because of the money involved. I was told to pay KSh 8,500 so that we could access the ambulance services. I negotiated and paid KSh 4,700 first as my wife was being transported to another hospital," he told Ayo TV.

Shomary's wife successfully delivered her baby, but her state worsened, and she unfortunately passed away.

Shomary demands justice

It pained Shomary knowing that his wife would be alive had the doctors checked her early enough instead of being taken in rounds and forced to pay for free services.

"I want justice, and I want my money back. I am requesting the government to intervene in this matter because it is unfair. After all the sacrifices, I received a call to be told the news," the Tanzanian man said.

The incident forced the residents to rally behind him and question the hospital and relevant authorities about why that happened.

Some complained about the hospital's services and its operations, arguing they also suffered at the hospital's hands.

Nairobi man loses wife after giving birth

In another story, a Nairobi man was fundraising for his wife's funeral shortly after welcoming a newborn.

Victor Ambula's wife, Zipporah Katunge, died moments after giving birth to their third child via caesarian section.

Ambula, an ardent AFC Leopards fan, told TUKO.co.ke that doctors informed him that his wife died after her organs failed because of excessive bleeding.
