Nairobi - Embakasi Central Member of Parliament Benjamin Gathiru, has criticised National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah for allegedly demeaning Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

During a church service on Sunday, September 8, Gathiru slammed Ichung'wah over his explosive remarks, which he claimed were aimed at demeaning Gachagua.

Gathiru, a close ally of Gachagua, appeared to point an accusing finger at President William Ruto, claiming he imposed Ichung'wah on Kenya Kwanza Alliance lawmakers.

The lawmaker asked the president to contain the majority leader, who he claimed had been out of control.

‘’I want to ask the president, it is you who appointed Kimani Ichung'wah as the majority leader and not us, you appointed him the leader of government business, the people and I need to understand whether the role included going around the country abusing the deputy president. Tame your dog,’’ Gathiru angrily said.

He maintained that it was a shame for them as leaders to have Ichung'wah lead them while driving on a mission to abuse other leaders.

According to Gathiru, it was increasingly becoming difficult to continue associating themselves with the Kenya Kwanza administration because of what he claimed to be intimidating of DP's allies.

"I am even feeling ashamed as a leader standing before you with the fact that my leader of majority is at the center of childrens’ talk of how he knows how to abuse others, which government is this?" he questioned.

Did Gachagua incite Mt Kenya residents

Elsewhere, on Sunday, June 9, the Kikuyu MP accused the deputy president of inciting Mt. Kenya residents against elected leaders.

Ichung'wah claimed Gachagua was paying people to heckle leaders opposed to his unity bid in the region.

The National Assembly majority leader vowed to keep speaking against tribal politics being advocated by certain leaders.
