Nyeri: Blow By Blow Account Of How Father, Daughter Were Murdered Together At Home

Nyeri - The family and neighbours of the elderly man and his daughter who were murdered at their home have spoken days after the ordeal.

When were Murihia and Warukira killed?

Josphat Murihia Riguga and his daughter, Rachel Warukira Murihia, were brutally attacked on the night of Wednesday, August 28.

Their neighbour, an elderly man, painted a picture of the two family members' state when he went to their home in Nyeri county.

Buxton Muchiri had heard disturbing noises and commotion in the deceased's house, prompting him to alert fellow neighbours before they headed to the house.

"We found Riguga lying on the floor in a pool of blood. It was a heartbreaking scene that puzzled many. Many other people were drawn to the scene while others called the police," he heartbreakingly said.

How old was Murihia and his daughter?

Riguga's grandson recounted the overwhelming state in which 56-year-old Warukira had been found when he entered the house.

"Her left hand had been chopped by a panga. Some of her hair was also on the floor. They were injured on a similar spot on their heads," he said.

Riguga, 89, and Warukira stayed alone in the house with their workers only visiting them during the day.

Othaya sub-county police commander Samuel Gitau said the shocking matter was under investigation.

Where was Murihia, Warukira's burial site?

The house workers remain the prime suspects, according to Gitau, who was also saddened by the incident.

Paul Maina, an elder, said the residents were left with great sorrow and fear for their lives following the killing incident.

Charles Murihia, the deceased's son, urged the government to bring justice to the perpetrators of his family member's killing.

Riguga and his daughter were expected to be buried on Friday, September 6, at the octogenarian's homestead.

Dad, daughter die after stroller collides with train

In another story, Anand Runwal, 40, leapt onto the train tracks to save his daughters from an oncoming train.

Superintendent Paul Dunston of St George Police Command said the babies' stroller was carried to the tracks by a suspected freak of winds.

An eyewitness recounted hearing the mother of the babies shout for help moments before the tragic accident.
