Derrick went viral after his demise as Kenyans shared their outpouring messages to the family.

The man was vacationing at the coast with his lover Beth Linet when the waves overwhelmed him and carried him away.

In a recent post, Beth noted that she and Derrick were unaware of the dangers of the full moon. She shared a video where they enjoyed the moon's presence.

She wrote:

"We watched the full moon without knowing the dangers it was holding. wish i had the knowledge that I have now about the full moon."

According to research, the moon and sun are primarily responsible for the rising and falling of ocean tides.

Around each new and full moon, the sun, Earth, and moon arrange themselves more or less along a line in space. Then, the pull on the tides increases because the sun's gravity reinforces the moon’s gravity.

Thus, the tide’s range is at its maximum at the new moon or full moon. This is the spring tide: the highest (and lowest) tide.

Beth penned an emotional message to her late lover, talking of how the waves had robbed her of him.

In a viral clip, she could be seen wailing while looking at the ocean, trying to jump in, and her friends held her back.

The lady painfully stated that she was going home alone when she travelled for the vacation with the love of her life.
