Raphael Okiot, a Ugandan lawyer and lecturer who was recently killed in a grisly road accident, has been buried in an emotional burial ceremony.

Okiot, a 35-year-old lawyer and lecturer from the Uganda Christian University, was laid to rest just days after his vehicle was crashed by a cement mixer truck along the Entebbe-Kampala Expressway.

In a video shared from the burial, Okiot's two wives were present, and they struggled to give their tribute to their husband, whose life was cut short instantly in the accident.

During the ceremony, Okiot's second wife, who is also pregnant, was overcome by emotions and could not address the mourners.

The deceased's first wife mustered some courage and narrated how she had flown into the country to bury her husband. She was flanked by their two young children.

"I am a mother to these two kids. I want to thank all of you for coming. Pray for us because I know prayer can move a mountain," she said.

Okiot's father explained that the lady arrived from London just hours before to bury her husband after the tragedy.

The deceased's first wife, a magistrate, was the one who confirmed her husband's death on Wednesday after the accident.

She was also pregnant at the time of his death.

Raphael Okiot's death

Footage from traffic surveillance cameras along the Entebbe-Kampala expressway showed the disturbing moment when a cement mixer truck fell on a car in traffic.

As shown in the video, the vehicles were complying with the Nkumba University traffic lights which signalled them to stop at an intersection.

The ill-fated personal car was a Mitsubishi RVR whose occupant died on the spot. The driver was detained after the tragedy.
